Request for suggestions
I'm still battling the summer doldrums.  Honestly, I'm enjoying this bit of respite from political matters.  I am not giving them up permanently, though, so don't worry about that.  In fact, as I mentioned in the last post, I've been doing a lot of thinking about ways to make Election Projection - 2008 Edition better than ever.  That's where you come in.  I'd like for my readers to offer suggestions about what you would like to see implemented here at EP.  Please use this comment thread to post your ideas.  I think the site will be pretty cool in 2008, but by knowing what you like and hearing your ideas, I hope to make it even better.

Summer doldrums - 2007 edition
I apologize to everyone for my lack of posts over the last couple months.  I'm in the middle of some serious summertime doldrums.  Understand that this is just a temporary condition which I'm sure will be rectified soon.  Actually, I have lots of very exciting ideas about how to make Election Projection the best site of its kind on the web.  Please have patience, don't go anywhere, and I think you'll be very happy with the results.

In the mean time, how about using this thread to talk about your favorite summer activities?  For me, Myrtle Beach, golf and amusement parks light my summertime fancy.

Cash reports
Jim Addison is one of my very favorite bloggers.  He has posted detailed rundowns of the campaign fundraising for both the Democrats and the Republicans over at Wizbang! Politics.  Guiliani leads this last quarter for the GOP, while Obama is ahead on the Democratic side.  More important, I think, than who leads their respective parties is the amount raised.  The top two contenders for the Democrats - Obama and Hillary - raised just under $60 million.  The GOP's top two - Guiliani and Romney - only raised $37 million, a patry figure by comparison.

To many folks out there, it's a foregone conclusion that the Democrats will take the White House next year.  Looking at these numbers on top of everything else going on, it is hard to argue differently.  Fred Thompson may change the prospects some, but I'm having a hard time maintaining my usual optimistic outlook.  Maybe a lot of the dollars on the GOP side are awaiting his entry into the race.  We'll have to wait and see.

Poll:  How do you feel about America?
The latest edition of Election Projection's Weekly Poll is up.  Do you think America is the greatest nation on earth...or the worst?  Maybe, in your view, it's not so bad, but nothing so special either.  In honor of Independence Day this week, I thought I'd find out how how you feel about these United States of America.  The poll is located in the right sidebar.  Please be sure to cast your vote and discuss it here.
