"The Blogging Caesar at Election Projection is one of
the web's best prognosticators" - Hugh Hewitt

How much?  "Name Your Price!"

In 2004, Election Projection was one of the most accurate predictors of the presidential race between George W. Bush and John Kerry.  Using a home-grown formula, The Blogging Caesar projected the eventual outcome to within 3 electoral votes, correctly predicting 48 of 50 states.

In addition to weekly projection updates that incorporated the previous week's polling data into the projections, Election Projection also provided subscribers with daily email updates during the last two months of the campaign.  Several hundred readers contributed $40 (or less as the election drew near) to receive these daily emails.

This time around, Election Projection has expanded to track congressional and statehouse races.  As was the case in 2004, The Blogging Caesar needs help from my readers to be able to continue publishing this website.

  • Why should I subscribe to Election Projection?

Election Projection is a unique website that provides up-to-date tracking of all Senate and gubernatorial races as well as over 30 hotly-contested House races.  A subscription gives you a wealth of charts, polls, and details not available on the free side of the site.  I've initiated the subscriber program to help cover the costs of running Election Projection and to help make it worth the long hours I invest in it.

Many political websites charge prohibitive amounts for access to their premium content - some subscriptions can cost hundreds of dollars.  At Election Projection, I've decided to try something different.  My intent is to make this information available to as many people as possible while covering the costs of maintaining it.

To that end, I've instituted a "Name Your Price" subscription fee.  That's right!  You determine how much to pay for all the great stuff Election Projection has to offer.

For your one-time contribution, you'll have access to Election Projection's Premium Content throughout the election season and beyond - all the way 'til November, 2007!  To the best of my knowledge, this is the only program of its kind on a political site like mine.

  • I can name my price, huh?  So what should my price be?

As the name implies, "Name Your Price" means that decision is totally up to you.  You can use the list below to help you figure out "your price".  See which of the following options fits you best.

  • Rolling in the dough:  If you have the means and the desire to help out The Blogging Caesar in a more benevolent way, you may decide to make a contribution of $50, $75, $100, $200 or more.  This type of contribution is in line with some of the other political websites out there.
        Cook Political Report $295
        Roll Call $265
Rothenberg Political Report (print edition) $197
        DC's Political Report $120

  • Making ends meet:  If you don't reside in the upper crust but you're getting along fine, you may want to send in a more moderate amount.  In 2004, I charged $20 - $40 for the daily email updates so many of my readers enjoyed.  If that sounds about right, then perhaps you fall in this category.

  • Strapped for funds:  Maybe you just don't have a lot of extra cash lying around, but you really want to have access to all the detailed information Election Projection provides.  If this is you, I'm glad to offer you a subscription for a contribution of just a few bucks.  If you can only send in $5 or $10, then go right ahead.  Please don't let the fact that you can't contribute much keep you from getting your subscription.  In order to make processing your subscription worthwhile, please make your contribution at least $5.

  • What do I get with my "Name Your Price" subscription?

I'm glad you asked!  Here's what you get with your "Name Your Price" subscription...

  • Access to individual pages for all 50 states
I've created a separate page for each state full of all kinds of polls, tables and lists.
Click here to view the actual state page for Pennsylvania from September 30th.

All this is included on every state page:
  • Latest News and Updates - All polls and rating changes since tracking was initiated.
  • State Partisanship Information - Conservative ranking, partisan trend and trend rank.
  • Race Details - Candidate lists, primary winners, projection formula data.
  • Projection History - All changes to each race's projection numbers over time.
  • Current Partisan Breakdown - National delegation and state government.
  • Political Calendar - Filing deadlines, primary election and runoff dates.
  • Sitting Elected Officials - Governor, Lt. Governor, Senators and House members.
  • Day-to-day projection updates (vs. weekly updates on the free side)
While projection updates on the free side are posted once a week, you'll be
privy to projection updates posted each day as new polls come in, complete with their
own set of colorful maps you've come to know so well here at Election Projection.

  • Email notification of race rating changes
New polls will sometimes change the rating of a race.  When they do, you'll
automatically get an email letting you know which race ratings have changed.
This feature will make staying informed that much easier.

  • Summary page of all tracked races with numerical margins
On the free side, Election Projection provides a convenient summary of all tracked races with general race ratings - "Weak", "Mod" and "Strong".  Here are a few example entries in that summary...

    State    Major Candidates Projected Result
Alabama Bob Riley (R)-inc vs Lucy Baxley (D) Strong GOP Hold
Alaska Sarah Palin (R) vs Tony Knowles (D) Mod GOP Hold
Arizona Janet Napolitano (D)-inc vs Len Munsil (R) Strong DEM Hold

With your subscription, you'll have access to an additional summary page that
will include the projected margin of each race instead of the general rating.
    Here are some example entries...

    State    Major Candidates Projected Result
Alabama Bob Riley (R)-inc vs Lucy Baxley (D) Riley +20.5
Alaska Sarah Palin (R) vs Tony Knowles (D) Palin +12.4
Arizona Janet Napolitano (D)-inc vs Len Munsil (R) Napolitano +16.7

And remember, with daily updates, these numbers will
be refreshed every weekday, Monday thru Friday.

  • Projection history for all tracked races
This is really cool.  Each tracked race includes a table of all changes in the
ratings over the course of the election season.  Here's an example taken from
the Rhode Island state page in late-September displaying
the projection history of the gubernatorial race...

    Projection History

      Date Projection Rating
September 25, 2006 Carcieri +5.4 Mod GOP Hold
September 20, 2006 Carcieri +4.2 Weak GOP Hold
September 5, 2006 Fogarty +1.0 Weak DEM Gain
August 28, 2006 Carcieri +1.1 Weak GOP Hold
August 27, 2006 Fogarty +0.6 Weak DEM Gain
August 9, 2006 Carcieri +0.02 Weak GOP Hold
July 23, 2006 Fogarty +0.8 Weak DEM Gain
July 19, 2006 Fogarty +1.4 Weak DEM Gain
        Preliminary ----- Weak GOP Hold

With these charts, you'll be able to track the ebb and flow of each election contest.

  • Finally, you get unlimited access to all this wonderful stuff for one full year after Election Day
With your one-time contribution, all charts and tables,
polls and projections will be yours to access whenever you
want to look back on Election 2006 until November, 2007.
